My Story

Hi, I'm Leah Nicole Whitcomb! A community storyteller from central Mississippi, I believe stories are for everyone to enjoy and strive to make my work accessible through whatever medium I use (writing, film, audio). I co-host the Hoodoo Plant Mamas podcast with Dani Bee. It's one of the top 5% of podcasts streamed globally on Spotify!

I write stories about Black folks, love, and magic. My writing is featured in Sistories, Samjoko Magazine, Root Work Journal, The Rumpus, Medium, and the anthology: Between Pleasure and Pain

A 2022 Courage to Write Grant recipient, my work has been supported by The deGroot Foundation, Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation (2020), and the Women of Color Writers Podcast & Women’s National Book Association’s Authentic Voices Fellowship (2022).

Currently, I'm working on my young adult romance series exploring disability, grief, and spirituality. If you subscribe to my newsletter, A Few of My Favorite Things, my thoughts about the world and media will end up in your inbox once a month.

I attended Millsaps College in Jackson, MS where I received my Bachelor of Arts in communication studies. Right now, I'm holed up in southwest Florida with my cat Nell (who has her own Instagram!) and my husband, Gunnar.
