Courage To Write Winner!

Hey y'all,

I'm so excited to announce that I'm one of seven winners for The deGroot Foundation's inaugural Courage to Write Grant for my memoir, now named Holy: A Memoir.

Holy: A Memoir is a coming-of-age memoir that explores race, gender, and religion in the Bible Belt. The book aims to break down purity culture as well as the lasting effect on women’s self-worth.

The de Groot Foundation was created in 2010 by Norma, Charles and Clydette de Groot to support high impact, sustainable innovation, education and cultural projects. The foundation’s current cultural focus is to support, encourage and discover new emerging voices in the literary arts. Clydette and Charles de Groot are co-directors of the foundation. The de Groot Foundation Courage to Write Grants are designed to motivate and encourage emerging writers to move towards completion of a work in progress.
